Re-View has established itself as the premier historic window manufacturer in the country. We have invested in the latest computerized wood fabrication equipment, allowing us to match historic profiles and joinery with unparalleled efficiency.

GENERAL CAPABILITIES
The first thing the craftsmen at Re-View do is to get information on the existing window systems. Often we will extract the old window and cut it up to establish the precise profiles of the sash, frames, stop, and brickmold. We then cut custom knives to enable us to produce lineal lengths of the wood components for the new windows. Our sash joinery is done in the traditional mortise and tenon style that is found on historic windows. Other window manufacturers who use glued and pinned sash and muntins are building substandard products that will deteriorate within the next 10 years. It is the philosophy at Re-View that we build wood window replicas that are designed to perform for 100 years like the originals.

DESIGN AND ENGINEERING
Over 50% of the people at Re-View have degrees in engineering and the founders of the company have over 25 years experience each in the window business. Since we have tested our products in thousands of installations across the country, you can be assured that a Re-View window will perform beyond the pitiful performance found in most modern windows. Our engineers are constantly working on better ways to maufacture quality and longevity into our window systems, incorporating things like weep holes that are rarely found in other manufacturers details.

WOOD SPECIES
Re-View can use any type of wood species that will best match the existing. We are often making windows from mahogany, cypress, fir, pine, or poplar. We often use reclaimed, old growth wood in our windows. Old growth long leaf yellow pine, tank cypress, and sinker cypress have outstanding durability and tighter growth rings that match existing window trim. Re-View applies preservative treatment to all of its wood sections after they have been milled for additional protection from wood rot and insect degradation.

GLAZING ALTERNATIVES
Re-View can glaze our replicated windows with any type of specified glass that is desired. The more historic projects will demand a clear, or Low E single pane system, with a putty glaze We also will utilize a single laminated glass for better STC ratings and security. Many of our replications include insulated glass for increased energy performance. Re-View has sources of insulated glass that have a special bronze IG spacer that is less obtrusive than your typical silver spacer. We also have sources for Low E and argon-filled glass that have a low visual light reflectance to best simulate the original glazing. We have installations of all of these types of glazings in landmark properties throughout the Midwest. We also reuse historic glass and source new historic glass from a number of manufacturers that accurately incorporates the distortion found in historic windows.

WINDOW HARDWARE
Re-View has relationships with over a dozen specialty hardware manufacturers who have extensive inventories of historic hardware. We can provide a wealth of options for locks, lifts, pull downs, and pulleys. When budgets allow, Re-View can also have custom molds created to precisely match an original decorative pattern. Re-View has a hardware engineer on staff that can consult with architects on designs that best meet the criteria of a particular project. Give us a call if you are attempting to match an obscure system.

FACTORY FINISH
Re-View can match any type of stain or paint finish to be used on a historic project. We have worked on projects where a paint analysis was conducted to determine the exact color of pigment used. Re-View can adapt to any finish requests even if it involves painting the frame one color and the sash another or having different interior finishes by room. We have a state-of-the-art finishing department that is climate controlled and segregated from the shop operations to assure a crisp and clean finish that will last like most aluminum clad systems.

WINDOW WEATHER STRIPPING
Re-View can match virtually any type of weather stripping specified for the project. Whether it be the typical metal weather strip that is found on most historic windows or a compression bulb type, Re-View can meet the specification. Given our vast experience in historic windows, we can also design a weather stripping system that dramatically increases the energy performance of the window without compromising the historic attributes.
