Restoration

Re-View is recognized as the premier historic window restoration companies in the United States. Our restoration plant has some of the most advanced equipment available. What looks to be a dilapidated window destined for the dumpster to the layman can really be the foundation for another 100 years of performance to the people at Re-View. Our craftsmen specialize in the restoration of wood, steel, and bronze historic windows. We use proven techniques to reconstruct the original fabric of the building and create a product that has superior performance and durability.

WINDOW SASH RESTORATION
Re-View uses a nine-step process to restore window sash. This process has been used on thousands of sash nationwide and is a proven method for historic window restoration. The Re-View craftsmen are all trained in the techniques and are strictly monitored in our shop for quality control. We achieve economies of scale by automating the processes in a shop controlled assembly-line approach, making for an economical and high quality finished product.

WINDOW FRAME RESTORATION
If the termites and the water haven't completely demolished the existing frames, Re-View can restore the unit to its original structural and functional integrity. Our lead paint abatement technicians can completely strip frames or remove loose lead paint and encapsulate. We utilize a two-step epoxy system on the sills to revitalize this most important component of the system. First, Re-View will impregnate the sill with a liquid epoxy that consolidates the sill and rebuilds the wood fibers. Then we fill all cracks and voids with epoxy putty. We can replace components that have completely rotted with new sections. In most cases, the original frames of historic wood windows are more durable after we restore them than a new replacement of new growth wood.

LEAD PAINT ABATEMENT
Our abatement technicians are trained to perform lead paint abatement in the field and in the shop. We have all of the equipment including jobsite trailers, sealed containers, and HEPA vacuums. All of the technicians are licensed and trained to perform both lead and asbestos abatement. We have stripper dip tanks in the shop to quickly facilitate the removal of lead paint from historic sash. We also use infrared heat to remove paint. The Re-View abatement technicians can either strip all lead paint or encapsulate the paint, depending upon the project requirements and the budget.

WINDOW FINISHING
Re-View has professional painters and equipment to enable us to meet virtually any finish specification imaginable. We have a massive paint booth designed after an auto body finish shop so the factory finish is the best available.

WINDOW HARDWARE RESTORATION
The Re-View team has vast experience in refurbishing existing locks, lift handles, pull sockets, and pulleys. We have found that hardware restoration and refinishing is one of the most overlooked and under valued aspect of window restoration. We can remove all layers of paint and oxidation from existing hardware and either provide an economical clear coat finish or plate the hardware to return it to its original luster. The final finish and luster of refurbished hardware adds a major component to historic window restoration.

INSULATED GLASS CONVERSION
Re-View specializes in converting existing single-pane window sash into thermally efficient insulated glass units. We have perfected the methods of adapting the sash and glazing so the durable historic wood sash can be upgraded to current glass technology.

STEEL WINDOW RESTORATION
Re-View has extensive experience in restoring steel window systems. By using proven restoration methods and having access to historic steel window parts, Re-View is able to rejuvenate virtually any configuration of steel window. Re-View also has the capacity to mange projects of any magnitude.

BRONZE WINDOW RESTORATION
We use very similar methods to restore bronze windows as we do with steel. The preparation, glazing, hardware, and weather stripping are all interchangeable. Re-View has perfected the specialty finishing of bronze windows.

STORM WINDOWS
In some cases, energy performance demands that a historic storm window be applied to either the interior or exterior of the window system. Re-View has alliances with historic storm window manufacturers who can fabricate durable, low profile storms that don't detract from the charm of the window unit.
