One aspect
of historic window systems that is often overlooked is the weather
stripping that is used on the restored window systems. Most of the
weather stripping manufacturers in the United States are small firms
that specialize in a very defined niche. It is difficult to determine
which system is best for a given application unless you have years
of experience in dealing with the many different options.
 |
Re-View
has a vast background in installing all types of weather stripping
from the most historically accurate to the most energy efficient.
Each job has its own set of priorities and budgets so we can
adapt to any specification. The Re-View team will often consult
with Architects and Owners of projects to make recommendations
that will best suit the project needs. |
HISTORIC
METAL WEATHER STRIPPING
Re-View
has access to hundreds of profiles of traditional metal weather
stripping that you often see on historic wood and steel window systems.
| Although
these products are not known for their superior weather seal,
they do provide a durable system that will last for many decades.
Re-View can offer these profiles in aluminum, solid bronze,
zinc, stainless steel, and anodized finishes. The return flange
weather strip that is commonly found on wood double hung jambs
and sills is a standard product for Re-View. We also have access
to specialty leaf, interlocking, concealed, spring, and threshold
weather strips. |
 |
MODERN
WEATHER STRIPPING
Re-View has also incorporated the more modern vinyl, pile, and foam
weather strippings that are found on most manufactured window systems
into historic wood and steel windows.
 |
Over
the years, we have learned how to install these products in
a way that does not compromise the appearance of the window
while it dramatically improves the energy efficiency of the
unit. |
