Re-View uses a great deal of Honduran Mahogany as a wood for its sash and frame parts for our historic window fabrication.
Also referred to as Swietenia Macrophylla, Honduran Mahogany is an excellent wood for the use of an exterior windows. Honduras Mahogany is reported to be readily available at moderate prices at present, but its continued availability is of some concern because of high demand and restrictions on importation. Current supplies of the standing trees are becoming more inaccessible and scarce due to exploitation. The trees grow to heights of over 150 feet with trunk diameters of up to 72 inches.
The grain varies a great deal going from straight to wavy or curly. Irregularities in the grain often produce highly attractive figures in the finished product. The wood has a highly lustrous and golden tone. Mahogany is considered to be one of the most stable commercially important timbers because it holds its place well in use and displays little movement.
Honduras Mahogany has excellent weathering properties, which makes it a popular wood for boat building and window fabrication. It is resistant to brown rot and white rot fungi. The color of Honduras Mahogany is relatively consistent, making it an excellent wood for staining.
Re-View uses a great deal of Honduras Mahogany in the manufacture of its windows because of its durability.
