Re-View uses Douglas Fir as the wood for its sash and frame parts for our historic window fabrication.

Douglas Fir is a very beautiful and versatile wood and has been successfully used since the 1800’s as the wood of choice for general construction. It has a light pinkish color that is very consistent, making it an excellent wood for staining.

One unique feature of Douglas fir is that it is vertical grain, which means that the grain of the wood is very straight and parallel with the next growth ring. This creates a quite uniform appearance and makes the fir less likely to warp or twist. Douglas Fir displays excellent durability to the elements.

Although Douglas Fir can be more difficult to machine than other woods, it is an excellent choice for the use of historic wood windows.
