SCOPE OF WORK Lead Paint Abatement, Wood Window Restoration, Steel Window Restoration, Hardware Refurbishment, Sash Replication, Window Installation, Window Finishing

The Southern Pacific Depot in Stockton, California has been vacant for almost 30 years. The facility is enclosed with a fence and guarded 24 hours a day to prevent vagrants from taking residence. They plan to restore the lobby of the red brick building to its 1930's grandeur and turn the upstairs into offices for the ace train and rail commission. Construction is expected to be completed in 2003. The commuter train service not only encourages economic development in the vicinity of its stations but also gives higher-skilled workers a way to get to Silicon Valley jobs and still find affordable housing in the Central Valley.

Re-View performed the restoration of both the wood and steel windows at the Depot. The restoration included the removal of all lead-based paint from the window frames and sash. Since this was a historically significant structure, Re-View retained as much of the original material as possible. Many of the wood sash were beyond repair so we fabricated exact replicas and installed them in the restored frames. Replicated hardware was installed to replace the missing originals. New chains were installed on the double hungs and the original weights were used to balance the sash. Re-View restored the frames in the field and took the sash and the steel windows back to our plant for a complete restoration.

The monumental steel windows were completely removed in sections so rust-inhibitive finishes could be applied to all surfaces. Re-View blasted the steel units to remove all oxidation and welded new parts to replace removed or deteriorated sections. The resulting product has the same integrity and appearance as when they were first installed.
