The
Sioux City Public Museum is housed in a Romanesque-style mansion
built in the early 1890s by John Peirce, an early Sioux City realtor
and developer. Built of Sioux Falls quartzite, it is one of the
most spectacular homes ever built in Sioux City and features stylish
paneling, ornately carved woodwork and staircase. Peirce lost his
fortune in the panic of 1893 and the house was raffled off in a
national lottery in 1900. During the next eight years, several different
owners occupied the structure.
| Re-View
was responsible for full restoration of the windows and installing
custom fabricated historic wood storm windows. The onsite restoration
of the windows was tedious since the structure had settled and
suffered water damage. Re-View performed full sash, frame, and
hardware restoration. Re-View installed special hardware on
the storm windows to allow for quick access to ventilation and
a built-in locking mechanism. |
