The majestic courthouse stands tall in Gainesville with its copper dome and eagle medallions. Re-View manufactured 493 historically correct replacement sash.
This brick, limestone, and terra cotta structure was built in 1911 and designed by Lang and Mitchell architects. This is actually the fourth courthouse in Cooke County. One was ruined by a wild steer trying to avoid flies and two were destroyed by fire. The original site is known for the largest mass hanging in US history in 1862 when 40 Union sympathizers suffered from “The Great Hanging of Gainesville”
The building is a mixture of architectural motifs including the Classic Revival columns and symmetrical facades combined with a Beaux Arts elaborate dome. Ten eagle medallions surround the building.
| In 1974, the original windows were replaced with aluminum windows. The original frames were left in place, but the sash had been replaced. Re-View fabricated replicated historic wood window sash to fit into the restored original frames. We used one single sash that had been saved to base our design. Reclaimed long leaf yellow pine was used for the new sash materials so it would match exactly with the frames and the interior millwork. Re-View applied a rich dark factory stain on the interior and a Hunter Green exterior finish.

The entire first floor included arched window sash and the upper floors had true divided lite sash. |
