HISTORIC
WINDOW INSTALLATION
Re-View has installed thousands of windows across the United States. The key element in the quality of the Re-View restoration work rests within the quality of our carpenter labor. Most of the field and shop labor performed on a landmark project involves carpenter labor. The average craftsman at Re-View has over 16 years in the carpentry and wood working business. Over half of our people have over 20 years of experience. Our experience, training, and specialization are unparalleled.

PROJECT
MANAGEMENT
Each job is assigned to a project manager who is responsible for assembling the team and scheduling all work involved with the job. We use an automated scheduling program that is broken down into the various phases of the job and the corresponding duties for each phase. The project manager is responsible for bringing the job in on schedule and within budget.

CARPENTERS UNION
Re-View is signatory to the Carpenters Union and has an International Agreement that allows us to send our key people to markets across the country. Although we perform work in both Union and Non-Union markets, it is useful to have the access of the local Union labor to supplement our traveling craftsmen.
CARPENTER
SELECTION PROCESS
We spend a great deal of effort to select the best of the best. The Kansas City Carpenters Union has a wealth of talent to select from. The unique historic restoration work is very desirable compared to more conventional carpentry work so we have a long list of carpenters who would like to come to work at Re-View. Over the past ten years, Re-View has been very fortunate to have attracted and retained some of the finest carpenters in the country. We are constantly amazed at the things they can do with historic windows.

Our selection process is very exacting. Every potential hire is put through a series of three interviews with the foreman, the project manager, and top management. We firmly believe it is critical for management to get involved in the hiring process since a bad hire can be very costly to the business. A company is only as strong as its weakest link.

 |
If a carpenter’s past experience and personal integrity gets him through the hiring process, we put him/her through a ninety-day in-field probationary period. Our foremen in the field and the shop closely watch the new hire to see whether he actually performs to our level of quality and productivity. We purposely select a wide array of tasks during this period to define the person’s strengths and weaknesses and see if the fit with Re-View is a positive one.
TRAINING
PROGRAMS
All of our carpenters go through extensive training in all aspects of historic window work. Since windows is our business, they become very proficient in fabrication, restoration, installation, and trim work.
Just as in a sports team, some carpenters excel at certain carpentry skills. We have people who are experts in installation and others who are outstanding in custom fabrication. The Re-View project management team allocates these varying skill sets to the specific job so we can realize better efficiencies and a higher level of quality.

EQUIPMENT
& TOOLS
Management is convinced that the best group of carpenters needs to be supported by the finest tools and equipment available. We are constantly upgrading and investing in the latest technologies so our productivity and quality improves. For example, we have invested heavily in cordless power tools and battery powered impulse nailers and trimmers to improve efficiencies in the field. It doesn’t make sense for the best labor in the market to waste time looking for an outlet or to lug around fifty feet of air hoses when the job needs to be completed.
COMMUNICATIONS
Efficient communications is critical for any business to function properly. All of our crews are equipped with Nextel radios and cell phones so they can be in contact with other trades and the office in Kansas City with a push of the button. We even have invested in mobile radios for the field that are voice activated by headsets worn by each carpenter. This enables us to do things like have a carpenter on a lift relay dimensions to another at a chop saw so we can quickly feed the installation without wasting effort.
