Although insulated glass is a new development that did not exist with historic windows, it is being used on historic projects with much more frequency. Energy efficiency demands and the mechanical requirements on historic projects have stipulated that replicated windows meet certain efficiency standards. Re-View has been successful in designing its historic replica windows to accommodate the insulated glass without compromising the historic characteristics of the window system. The exterior of our system replicates a putty glazed window. The interior stop can be removed to replace the glass. This interior reglazing feature makes it pretty simple to replace broken or failed glass.

Re-View has insulated glass made with a special spacer bar between the two panes of glass. Typical glass spacer bars are bulky and made of shiny steel. Re-View uses a low profile spacer bar so it is hidden in our glazing system, which is especially important on multi-lite windows. We also have the spacer bar finished in a light or dark bronze color to make it more visually appealing. A black spacer bar is also available.

Re-View can also offer many alternatives to the insulated glass option. We have used different thicknesses of glass such as 3/8", 1/2", 5/8", 3/4". We can use most any type of glass for insulating. Clear, Low E, argon filled, krypton filled, obscure, laminated, bullet proof, or tinted, glass is available in our windows. The following chart outlines the performance characteristics of different types of insulated glass.

Re-View offers a ten year warranty on the seal of its insulated glass products.

This diagram shows the construction of a typical insulated glass unit. All of the Re-View insulated glass has both a primary and secondary seal to prevent seal failure.
