WINDOW
FINISHING
Painting and staining historic windows is a very complex process and requires much more attention to detail than conventional finishing. The finishing of the window system is an integral activity with the restoration process. If you treat window finishing as a separate discipline, you can undermine the restoration work on the replicated or refurbished windows. It is a shame to have a historic window painted shut after it has been restored, or to have restored hardware, weather strip, or ropes painted over by another subcontractor. Re-View provides complete finishing of all of its window products to assure that quality control is maintained throughout. We are also able to achieve economies by coordinating the restoration, installation, and finishing process during the project. The Re-View team offers the following finishing services for historic windows:
 |
PAINTING
Re-View can finish the interior or exterior of the window system in virtually any type of color by any specified paint manufacturer. We can conduct paint analysis to achieve an exact color match. The Re-View painters will supply color samples on a representative substrate for approval by the architect and owner. |
We have four paint booths, two automated lines, and a large drying oven in our state of the art production facility. We also have all of the necessary equipment to gain efficiencies in the field like boom trucks, scissor lifts, scaffolding, and the latest in painting equipment. Our painters are recognized to be some of the best in the business and have extensive experience in finishing windows in particular. | |
STAINING
In addition to painting, our people can match virtually any stain finish. We have several painters on staff that have 20+ years in the business and are highly skilled at mixing stains to achieve a direct match to existing trim or millwork. We coordinate the restoration process with the finishing specification so we can utilize fillers and dutchmen that will blend well with the selected stain.
WOOD
PRESERVATIVE
Over the years, we have seen an increase in the demand for wood preservative to be applied to the restored product. Our painters have negotiated all of the EPA guidelines and standards to use these preservatives as a base coat prior to applying the primer or stain.

INSECT
REPELLENT
| In some areas of the country, termites and carpenter ants are a real threat to wood window sash, frames and trim. The Re-View painters can apply an insect repellent as part of the base coat to deter these pests. | |
STEEL
WINDOW STABILIZATION
A restored steel window has to be treated differently than a wood window. If you do not use the proper stabilizing paints on steel, the restoration work will be undermined in a matter of years. We have seen hundreds of historic steel windows that have blistered the new acrylic finish within two years of application. The Re-View team is a big user of the Tnemec ® paints that are recognized as the ultimate in rust inhibiting finishes. This most advanced fluoropolymer finish exhibits superior abrasion, corrosion, and weather resistance qualities. You can reach Tnemec through the following hyperlink. www.tnemec.com.
